Since 2001, Hobsons has partnered with PLAN, an international charity organization, whose efforts contribute to building schools and educational facilities for children in some of the world's poorest countries. In recent years, Hobsons' employees around the world have taken part in fundraising for education for communities in Namibia, Nicaragua, Borneo, Guatemala, Indonesia, and Kenya. Ambassadors from Hobsons have visited each of the projects, attending the opening of newly built schools and distributing books, pens, and other materials.
Employees in Hobsons' offices around the world have been involved in a wide range of fundraising events, including charity golf tournaments, picnics, chili cookoffs, baking cakes and cookies, dress-down days, sports tournaments, and auctions. The money raised through these and other events and contributions from the business have helped to fund the great number of projects through PLAN.
This year, Hobsons' fundraising efforts are focused in the Santa Cruz region of Bolivia. Hobsons will help build a nursery school for the children of Ascension de Guarayos. Through Hobsons fundraising efforts, six new classrooms, six new bathrooms, one administrative office, and perimeter fencing will be built. Not only will Hobsons be able to provide the area with the physical space they need to serve the children of the area, but also with training and supplies to truly make the nursery school a place where the children of Santa Cruz can grow and learn.
